Some funny things yesterday on trains with SW. We were working between Euston & Mornington Cescent. He took a woman off—a Nigerian I think—who said she didn’t have a ticket. She said she had a one-day travelcard but had lost it. SW suggested a PFN and as the woman had a credit card I wrote it all out including her name and address—which checked out. Suddenly SW had a flash of inspiration. He held up his Movie reader about two feet away from the woman and said, ‘My machine is indicating that you have a Freedom Pass on you.’ I chipped in with, ‘My machine also says that. You are best give it to us or we’ll have to let the police deal with it.’ So she took out her husband’s Freedom Pass! She said she’d been using it for weeks.
